The 86thAnnual Brunswick Veterans Day Parade, one of the oldest of its kind in the country takes place on Sunday, November 11th. This patriotic tribute honors our active duty, retired military members, and all veterans. There are approximately 115 parade entries, ranging from marching bands and veterans groups to local community organizations and businesses, and attended by thousands of residents from throughout the region. The opening ceremony takes place at Memorial Park, in the heart of downtown Brunswick across from City Hall, beginning at 1:00 p.m. The parade gets underway at 2:00 p.m. This year’s event will also mark the 100th anniversary of Veterans Day (formerly Armistice Day), which drew a close to the end of World War I. After the parade, we will also be hosting a “Welcome Home” celebration in honor of Vietnam Veterans in our region at the American Legion Post 96 in Brunswick.
