Mission & Our Team

Our Mission

To create and sustain a vibrant downtown for all to enjoy.

Our Vision

We envision a lively, active downtown that brings pride to the community and enhances quality of life for all.

Who We Are

Brunswick Main Street is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization created to revitalize downtown Brunswick as an attractive and lively city center. In 2004, we received our Main Street designation from the Main Street Maryland program.

With a history rooted in railroad culture, canal history, and lots of river and mountain natural resources, we’re not only a destination for visitors seeking adventure, but also a hub for residents and businesses seeking a unique and tight-knit community to make their new home.

Our board of directors consists of residents, business owners, and community leaders. The organization is supported by one full-time manager to handle administration and management, and a network of volunteers supporting programs and activities. We follow the Main Street America approach to revitalization through four major initiatives: Promotions, Economic Vitality, Design, and Organization.

About Main Street Maryland

Main Street Maryland (MSM) is a statewide, downtown revitalization program under the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development that focuses on community development and revitalization of Maryland’s historic downtown districts. Using a competitive process, MSM selects communities who have made a commitment to succeed economically, and helps them improve the economy, appearance and image of their traditional downtown business districts.

Since its start in 1998, MSM has grown from three Maryland communities to supporting over 50 thriving business districts in the state
