Pocket Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
May 31, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm
Thanks to many volunteers from the Brunswick Main Street Design Committee and Brunswick community, several improvements were made this past spring to the downtown Brunswick Pocket Park. The park, located across from Beans in the Belfry on West Potomac Street (approximately 125 W Potomac Street), had been previously cared for by the City of Brunswick Public Works (grass cutting) and by volunteer Karin Birch. Birch tended to the gardens and greenery of the park with a limited budget. In early 2019, the Brunswick Main Street Design Committee identified the Pocket Park as an important focus area for the coming year. Soon after, Brunswick Main Street was awarded the Don Doughty and Linda Moran fund on February 6th, 2019 for the purpose of revitalizing the Pocket Park. Since the grant award, the park trees were professionally trimmed, new shrubs and plants were added to the gardens, a stone pathway was created towards the rear of the park, the bench was painted (color decided by community vote on Facebook) and mulch and plant grow was added to the garden beds.
To commemorate the efforts of the volunteers, Brunswick Main Street will be hosting a ribbon cutting on May 31st, 2019 at 12PM at the Pocket Park. All are invited to attend. Main Street Manager, Sophie Smith, will discuss future plans for the Pocket Park and other 2019 greenery initiatives of the Brunswick Main Street Design Committee.
Brunswick Main Street would once again like to thank all of the volunteers, the Brunswick Main Street members and the Brunswick Community for their passion and dedication to this project.
