DESCRIPTION:2023 marks the 19th Annual Potomac Street Mile\, now held in celebration of former Brunswick Chief of Police Milton Frech Jr.* \nThe Potomac Street Mile is a level\, out-and-back mile course run on East Potomac Street between First Avenue and the City Park Building. There are four age categories: Elementary School (first grade and above)\, Middle School\, High School & Adult (19+). Awards are given for both male and female first and second place finishers. After-race snacks are provided. \nRegistration in advance online: https://runsignup.com/Race/MD/Brunswick/18thAnnualPotomacStreetMileMiltonFrechJrMemorialRun. \nDay-of registrations will also be taken in Square Corner Park beginning at 8am. \n*Chief Frech passed away on March 30\, 2021. He was the embodiment of community policing\, always present at community events keeping an eye on things\, chatting away\, and getting to know everyone in his town. \nThe Potomac Street Mile is very much in the spirit of Chief Frech: easygoing\, welcoming\, and right in the heart of downtown. DESCRIPTION:We hope to see as many people as possible at the official check presentation. In the event of inclement weather\, this event will be held at the same date/time at the Brunswick City Park Building (665 E. Potomac St\, Brunswick).\n\nBrunswick Main Street won $35\,000 from T-Mobile’s Hometown grant program\, one of only twenty-five winners out of six hundred applicants.\nThe award will be used to purchase two kiosks to provide lighted\, non-digital signage in a historically-appropriate style for Brunswick’s turn-of-the-twentieth century downtown. One kiosk will be placed next to the Brunswick train station\, a former B & O Railroad depot designed by architect Ephraim Francis Baldwin that was constructed in 1891. The second kiosk will be installed in Square Corner Park.\n\nThe four-sided kiosks will offer wayfinding\, business\, and community event information to visitors and residents using the high-traffic corridor between Brunswick’s historic downtown and nearby river and trail amenities\, including the C & O Canal National Historic Park. The kiosks are custom made by Cornerstone Kiosks out of Long Beach\, California. Installation is expected to take place in late fall 2023.

DESCRIPTION:2023 marks the 19th Annual Potomac Street Mile\, now held in celebration of former Brunswick Chief of Police Milton Frech Jr.* \nThe Potomac Street Mile is a level\, out-and-back mile course run on East Potomac Street between First Avenue and the City Park Building. Age categories are Elementary School (first grade and above)\, Middle School\, and High School & 18+. Awards are given for both male and female first and second place finishers. After-race snacks are provided. \nRegistration in advance online to secure your t-shirt (not yet open). Day-of registrations will also be taken in Square Corner Park beginning at 8am. \n*Chief Frech passed away on March 30\, 2021. He was the embodiment of community policing\, always present at community events keeping an eye on things\, chatting away\, and getting to know everyone in his town. \nThe Potomac Street Mile is very much in the spirit of Chief Frech: easygoing\, welcoming\, and right in the heart of downtown. If you believe\, like Chief Frech did\, that events like this are what get people invested in caring about where they live and building strong communities\, join us.
