Brunswick
Main Street Hosts Maryland Heritage Preservation Tax Credit Seminar on
October 26
Brunswick, MD
- Brunswick Main Street is hosting a Maryland Heritage Preservation
Tax Credit Program seminar on October 26, 2006 at 7 p.m. at 7
Maryland Avenue (First United Methodist Church) in downtown Brunswick,
MD. With a presentation from the Maryland Historical Trust, the
seminar is aimed at providing information about financial incentives
for property owners to rehabilitate their historic home or property.
The Heritage
Preservation Tax Credit Program, administered by the Maryland
Historical Trust, provides Maryland income tax credits equal to 20% of
the qualified capital costs expended in the rehabilitation of a
“certified heritage structure.” The credit is available for
owner-occupied residential property as well as income-producing
property.
This is a great
opportunity for Brunswick residents and business owners and others
within a historic district to find out what financial
incentives there are to rehabilitate their historic property. The
Brunswick Historic District, established in 1979, is roughly bound by
the Potomac River, Central, Park, and 10 Avenues, and C Street.
Roughly 500 buildings qualify for the tax credit.
The program will give
an overview of the tax credit program, what structures or areas
qualify, and how the the program is administered. There will also
be an opportunity to ask questions about the program.
